Can't access time and date, and other questions!

Hi all,

Got my new svp c500 this week and loving it but got many questions and few problems.

Main problem:

1. ALARM, i cannot get into the time and date settings page.

When i go to start- settings-more-date and time, i get

ERROR: settings could not be opened.

i've tried turning on and off, but no change.

2. Also when i could get into this setting page the alarm was turned off, but the alarm still goes off at 7 am every morning.

Is there another menu to set the alarm, i'm sure i saw one before when i was looking around, as it had afew alarms to set. now i can't find that page.

3. is there a stopwatch/ countdown on the phone, i can't find one.

4. once i've been on the internet, how can i access the cached web pages, without connecting to the web again.

5. can i get the phone to lock the keypad after a certain amount of time?

6. Just ordered myself a 512mb miniSD for £30, when i'm installing programmes, should i always install to the memcard, or do some progs need to be on phone storage.

7. i like the orange homepage, but would like to alter a few things, how can i change the callender icon to a alarm one for eg.

Um... ok, here goes:

1 & 2: You got problems and given you have only just bought the phone I suggest taking it back. you sohould be able to access this page. Are you getting this with any other settings?

3. No.

4. I use file manager (start -> accessories) and go to storage, windows, profiles, guest, Temporary Internet Files. You prob won't get the full page though.

5. Yes. In settings go to security and then phone lock. You then password enable your phone and the keypad locks after a certain amount of itme.

6. Some will need to go on the phone but it depends on what you are installing and what the program is meant to do.

7. The Orange homepage? You mean Web homepage that you can configure or your phones main screen? The former can be configured through the site and the latter needs changes made to the registry etc. Depending on what you want to do you will have to unlock the phone. I think instructions are pinned at the top of this forum!? If not, check the main C500 forum cos I'm sure their in there. It's known as decertifying the phone.

For the date and time problem a hard reset will fix this for you.

I've still not managed to get to the date & time page, maybe i've deleted something i shouldn't cos i've been installing and uninstalling stuff all week.

I ment the homescreen in that question. how do i edit with registry, is there a wysiwyg programme i can use.

I've unlocked the phone today.

I'm gonna do a hard reset when my mini sd arrives, will a hard reset lock my phone again, or will it stay unlocked?

Did you change your date fomat to xx.xx.xx by any chance?

A hard reset will not lock your phone again .

Unless you are talking about application unlocking and then a hard reset will lock the phone again. All you need to do is just unlock again at the Orange developers site.

thank you, your answer helped me, I couldn't get into time and date settings coz my date settings were xx.xx.xx I changed it and we are back on track again.

one more thing can you suggest something for exchanging files through bluetooth
