Guest Griff_FFOC Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Has anyone managed to copy and customise the standard orange homescreen? I like the standard orange one, but wanted to add in the Alarm plugin under the date and time on the right hand side. I had a quick play by adding the plugin code into the xml file at the bottom, but all that did was add the alarm time to the bottom of the orange icons, and when I pressed down, all of the orange icons opened up the alarm settings. :D Can anyone tell me how to acheive this, or pass an XML file that I can use. Cheers Griff
Guest jakobdam Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 You can find the XML in the ISPM\Windows\ - it's named something like "orange.home.xml" or something like that.... The tricky part is copying it to your PC. That's impossible in ActiveSync. You need to open this XML file on your phone, with Orneta Notepad or Wordpad, or similiar text editor. After you've opened the file, choose "Save as" and store the new file under any name you like, on a location you can remember. THEN you can copy it to your PC. What you will see may not help you much - but it's a start. I've seen some hacks of the Orange homescreen here on the site, but they include more than just the CAB file. I hope you can use this advise nevertheless to get a step further... good luck! :D

Copying it wasn't a problem, just used windows explorer, right clicked on the file and pasted it onto my desktop. You need to switch on viewing system files in windows to be able to see it though as it's flagged as a system file. It's just i couldn't get it to work properly as I added the plugin code to the bottom of the xml file and set x and y coordinates. When i viewed the homepage, the alarm time just showed at the bottom of the vertical orange menu, and none of the orange links then worked properly. Edited March 19, 2005 by Griff_FFOC
Guest jakobdam Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Ok - I think the Orange homescreen uses more than just one XML, but part from that, there's a special file which I don't know much about as I haven't tried changing it... Try searching in the homescreen download section - there's a homescreen called "Alien Invention" or something like that. It's a hack on the Orange homescreen, maybe the author of it can help you out. :D
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Ahh...abaxia :D Check this out: http://n.domaindlx.com/gpcarreon/abaxia/
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Thanks for that link. Looks interesting. It would appear that it's a case of changing backgrounds and icon images. I was looking after adding a plugin too it. Still, it's a step in the right direction. Cheers guys. :D
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 No probs. If we can incorporate another plugin (say animated homescreen) together with the abaxia plugin then that would be cool. Again, if it is possible then that would be cool.
