Guest joelb69 Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. MSN seems to constantly log me out. i know by holding the hang up button it disconnects me from GPRS but it seems to log me out even if im just on my homescreen or if ive been inactive for a few minitues. is there any way round this? cheers Joel
Guest Confused Stu Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 So far as I know, as soon as you hang up GPRS, it logs you off (security feature?). The only way round this I know is instead of holding the hangup button to lock the keypad, touch the power button and then select "keypad lock" from the list. That way, locked keypad but still GPRS connection. Is this what you're after?
Guest afhstingray Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 msn seems to randomly log off after short periods of time.....

Guest moosery Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 yes - sometimes (actually most times) msn logs off randomly on the c500. Whether you lock the screen or not. It doesnt happen if you're connected via bluetooth. if anyone can find a fix/workaround for this I'll be impressed!!!
Guest ciudatelu Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 (edited) Why don't you try out Agile Messenger? It supports MSN, Yahoo, AOL and also ICQ. Take a look at www.agilemobile.com :D I use it for Yahoo! messenger.. It's also free for Smartphones and Symbian phones! Edited March 22, 2005 by ciudatelu
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Have you lot got the GPRS "Always on" thingy from Smartease? I don't use it much these days (after spending ages getting it to stay connected I now use SMS more than MSN) but the tweak fixed it for me http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=109918

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Not GPRS signal related? I'm a cheapskate and so do not use GPRS if I can help it so I'm only guessing atm.

There are places that last longer (in York last weekend I managed to stay signed in for hours). Nowhere round Birmingham seems to do that, even though you generally have the full 5 bars. That said, there is one location just by spaghetti junction in brum where you have 5 bars of GPRS but can never get any data, ever. If that's the case, I can't see any way of fixing it other than moving to York...nice idea.
Guest squall Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 there is an issue with the orange network which automatically closes the connection after a period. Its a problem with the network, not the phone. orange know about it, but they have known about it for a number of months now and not addressed it
Guest moosery Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 aha! That sounds about right. Cheers for letting me know, maybe there's a little hope then!
