Help! Setting a PAYG Orange C500 up as USB Modem

Hope somebody can help with this.

I have a friend's Win XP pro laptop with the SPV C500 USB modem driver installed and ActiveSync disabled.

With MY Orange contract phone I can use it as a USB modem on the laptop with no probs by having windows dial the orangeinternet APN on *99# with no username or password, and no additional initialisation string.

When I try with HIS Orange PAYG SPV c500 on the laptop I get a PPP 734 error.

Any ideas?

Should I be dialling orangeinternet or payginternet (which I have seen mentioned on the net) on a PAYG phone? Orange reset my GPRS settings remotely, and the GPRS connection on the phone is set to use orangeinternet and they DID know it was a PAYG phone.

Cheers.

You now use APN orangeinternet for both contract and PAYG sims.

Can he successfully download from the internet using Pocket IE on his phone (using APN orangeinternet) ?

Have you tried swapping SIMs between phones to see what happens ?
