Guest sifaan Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Hi! Does anyone know of a way to use a smartphone as a USB memory stick? Basically, I'd like to be able to use my smartphone to transfer files between computers (I don't do it so frequently that I would buy a separate memory card) - but this would currently require activesync on both computers to be able to explore the storage area. Is there some software that could be on the phone so that when plugged in it would appear to the PC as a removeable memory device? Since the USB modem setting (at least on my SP3i) makes the device to appear as a USB modem I guess it should also be possible to make it appear as storage. (When USB modem is activated, activesync doesn't detect and sync with the device) /Sifaan
Guest mark4130 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Would it be the same 2 computers all the time? If so, this is what I do everyday on my C500 as activesync lets you have setups on 2 pc's. Mark

Someone has some cool (but large) files on a laptop or PC that I want to get, and there is no CD-writer available 2. At a conference where I am working with different groups (of which several individuals would have laptops) and there is a need to transfer files between them - and it would be awkward to be carrying around a CD with ActiveSync setup files :S /Sifaan
Guest zwarthoed. Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I am looking for a tool like this too for a while...... :D :?:
Guest SinisterJunkie Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I have and SD Card reader that is just like a USB flash drive without the built in memory. I use it all the time to transfer files around. It didn't seem logical to me to buy memory to transfer files and not be able to also use that memory with my Smartphone. Never looked for one that would work with mini SD, but I can't imagine a reason it wouldn't exist.

Guest declank Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 The best idea would be in my instance. Use old memory stick 128mb to carry the install files for active sync. Then use phone memory. This would only be if you dont want to spend money upgrading you current memory stick. D
