Guest Chaser81 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 I went for a job interview yesterday in a building where I wasnt allowed to take my phone in, I had to leave it at reception. Not only that, but they wanted it switched off (and I mean properly off) so after resigning myself to the loss of all my data, I pulled the battery as its the only way to really switch the Jam off. The manual states that the backup battery should protect your data for about twenty minutes to half an hour so I was pretty sure I had lost everything. Anyways, my interview lasted several hours (three and a half to be exact), but when I got out and put the battery back in, all my stuff was still there!! The backup battery was screaming at me that it was about to die, but it had held out! Well impressed, and just thought I would share!
Guest bill door Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 Does the I Mate come with a back up utility? The Royal Mail swear blind mines being delivered today and I was just curious. In the past I've backed up everything to SD card with my Ipaq 1940 using HP's built in back up utility. Thats fool proof in all situations apart from restoring after a rom upgrade :D If there isn't one, is there a favoured utility that people use?
Guest andysalmon Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 BD, You can back up to SD, but mines nearly always full of films or Little Britain! Chaser, Good to hear about the backup batt. Do you know if you have the job yet?
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 You can back-up with the ActiveSync function, but it will probably also come with xBackup already installed which stores the file on the SD. If you want even more reassurance you could get Sprite.
Guest bill door Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 Cheers guys. Blooming thing is due today (according to royal mail parcel tracking) but still hasn't arrived...
Guest Chaser81 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 @andysalmon Dont know about the job yet mate, wont find out til they write to me! [-o<
Guest mike-oh Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 So how do we go about useing them on a plane? Can we get away with saying it's a pocket pc. It has flight mode but a lot of airlines say you can't use your phone in flight mode, but technically it aint a phone! (this may warrant a new topic in its own right)
