Help! C500 will not shutdown, ever.

My relatively new C500 gets stuck on the blue splash screen (orange one) forever when I shutdown until I remove the battery. Its not intermittent, it happens everytime.

Is there anything I can try before resorting to a hard reset?

I have my suspicions about the software that caused this problem - are there any applications that can scan the phones registry and file structure before and after a program installation and log all the changes? (A bit like one of the many uninstall programs you can get on PC).

I know you can export the registry using PHM regedit, but this seems to lock up the C500.

I know this isn't particularly helpful to you but this is happening on my phone also. Don't really want to hard reset to solve it either

Have you been installing themes with shutdown screens or sounds etc?

It could be that the phone is trying to find a file that does not exist.

With out knowing exactly what is happening then a hard reset may well be the only solution.

Let me get this right, can you start the phone sucessfully after you removed the battery?

if so then try installing a theme that changes the system screens. if this doesn't fix it then try unistalling the last applications that u installed before the problem arised.

Yes the phone always starts up no problems after removing and replacing the battery.

I've never changed my homescreen from the default, let alone changed the shutdown/startup screen so I don't think thats likely to be it...

The only app I have installed is BetaPlayer. (Apart from "orange register" and a custom cabbage registry change to enable cleartype fonts).

Have you unistalled the both to see if they affect the problem?

OK I uninstalled BetaPlayer and the phone then shutdown properly 5 times out of 6 I tried.

The problem returns straight away when I re-install it, so I could really do with a file/registry snapshot tool to narrow down exactly what the installer is doing that my phone doesn't like...

How about downloading beta player again?

What version of the software have you installed......I currently use version stable 0.5 and have no errors.

Its VERY strange the app caused such a bizarre problem.

Well I am using the latest beta version rather than the stable one. I'll give 0.5 a try sometime, at least I've narrowed the problem down now.
