I'm trying to get in touch with HTC but their site is down and i can't find an e-mail address,

basically I need to ask them a question about their recent press release on licensing blackberry connect on HTC devices. I need to know if this is something that is going to be included on new devices only or if it can be added on to existing devices.

I have a customer who would like to buy a HP IPAQ H6340 but needs to know if she could have blackberry connect available on the device when it starts shipping out.

for more info: http://www.blackberry.com/news/press/2005/...3_2005-03.shtml

does anyone have an e-mail for them?

The just have an answering machine asking me to leave a message and they will get back to me. I have left a message but I'm not going to hold me breath. If they do get back to me I will post back with details

Spoke To research in motion from what I gathered it would probably be a software change however in the tradition of making money it upgrade would only be available on certain new devices and it would be down to the network operators if they offer it.

so basically an excuse to sell a new version of the same handset already available for example a c500b or an IPAQ H6340b

Thanks for the number Confucious but after today I don't think I'm up to shouting at a Taiwanese man hehe

It will probably be available on the C550 - another reason to upgrade. But then it has to be supported by the operators and what's the chances of that happening anytime soon?

It's a nice idea but I wouldn't hold your breath.

You only need to SHOUT at the Taiwanese man if you can't find the caps lock key on your keyboard :D

Oh well, it was worth a try.

Don't be too pessimistic guys, Blackberry has already been released after the fact for an HTC device in the form of the MDA III (HTC Blue Angel). If T-Mobile could make a business case for releasing and supporting it why shouldn't Orange? And although the Pocket PC MDA III may be slightly more aimed at businesses then the Smartphones you're talking about I don't see why the C500 shouldn't be similarly upgradeable.
