I tried the above settings and saved the wma in the application data\sounds

the tone shows up in the list but i can't select it (nothin happens when i press the "done" softkey, it refuses to select)

perhaps you can reply with an attachment of a sample tone? and e-mail me the codecs that you use to encode? i'm using dbpoweramp to convert the files...

your help is very much appreciated...

ok this is the deal on creating your own wma ringtones.. just download the windows media encoder from microsoft website and install...

choose "pocket pc" when prompted, save it onto yr ring tones folder and voila! you have nice wma ring tones! works on wm2003 (mpx200)

i used power mp3 to convert my mp3's to wma at 128k. i know it's too high of a rate but i got it saved to a 1GB memory card, so space was not an issue. the ringtones play fine. just got the phone 3 days ago but loving it. now i just gotta figure out how i can set ringers for certain people/groups and what video constraints are they so i can view video on my phone. :D

you could get betaplayer for smartphone, it supports divx 5.2.1. i encode my video files using virtualdubmod, using the resize filter to 176X200 resolution and audio stream to 64kpbs.. try it out, it works just fine. just finished watching constantine on the subway to work haha!

thanks llch_81, i used betaplayer and pocketdvix to encode. worked like a charm! i've got dogma, half baked, american history x and underworld on my phone right now. we're not allowed to watch movies on our laptops at work but they never said nothing about watching on my phone. woohoo!

thanks again.

no sweat... oh by the way, if you haven't figured out the custom ringtone for contacts yet, you need to scroll all the way down to the "custom ring tone" selection when you are editing yr individual contacts.

however, you cannot select ringtones on yr storage card, only those stored in the phone memory... there's a way to work around this (search the forum), but i've tried it and it makes my phone pretty unstable, so i've resorted to putting selected tones on the phone... after all, the wma tone sizes are pretty reasonable compared to wave...

hope that helps.. cheerios.

Hi akiraware,

i have solved my problem, i would strongly recommend using the windows media encoder available from the microsoft website. the problems you were facing was due to the incorrect version of wma encoder that you were using.

in the windows media encoder, you have the option of selecting your settings (i.e. quality, bit rate etc.). I have tried all the settings and it works just fine with the phone.

let me know if you have difficulty in finding it, i have the file with me (9.4mb).

hope that this helps!

cheerios!
