Guest sainthalo Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 I found a pretty good deal on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW i bought two of these and was told by seller it should work on a c500. tried really hard this evening with no success i have paired them and renamed it to "TomTom Bluetooth GPS" but no dice in tomtom software. GPS signal never found. Is there somehwere in tomtom where this can be cofigured further? im running on port 7 off the phone and have the items paired up using code 0000. installed the tomtom plugin twice from the pc! do i have to run it on the phone itself? where do i find it? also anyone know how to put a shortcut to the tomtom exe into the start menu on the c500, peed off trying to use smart explorer everytime! Guest mavisdavis Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 (edited) Try changing the name to "TomTom Wireless GPS" then reselect the com ports in the phone and turn it off and on again and hopefully it should be fine As for the short cut just do it through ya PC other wise there is no other option unless you do a fresh install of TomTom Edited March 25, 2005 by mavisdavis

Guest richard_hogg Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 The GPS should ideally be running first. You should also have the com6 ticked i beleive. There is a thread somewhere with the full instructions for making it work.

Guest ElGato65 Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 Just to state the obvious, you must have the traffic plug in installed. I have had a few nightmares with my Socket BT GPS, the first time I actually got it working under the default name of BT GPS2557 or something like that, but in the other times ive needed ot reinstall it was much easier named as TomTom Wireless GPS. Also I believe COM6 must be ticked, don't think COM7 matters but again in my perception I have been most successful with it selected, and make sure your C500 BT setting is set to either on or off, NOT discoverable.

Guest ElGato65 Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 You have installed the Traffic Plug In? This is an absolute must, and it has to be installed to the SD card. You have named your GPS to TomTom Wireless GPS? Capitalisation is important. You do have both COM6 and COM active? You do have BT NOT set to discoverable? On or Off is OK. Keep trying, all I can add is it can be troublesome, but once it works it generally stays working.

Guest ElGato65 Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 Hold on a sec, just re-read your original post. Are you checking the GPS status page, 5661? If so and it states No GPS Signal, then the device is connected, just not getting enough, or any satellites. Have you tried it outdoors? If the device is not connecting it would state No GPS Device.
Guest Fly98 Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I have the same problem.... I connect the gps.... named "TomTom Wireless GPS".... start TomTom .... that always says "No GPS Device"... and when i end application... GPS devide is deleted from aviables devices ..... Another post says that there is a file in 2577 folder, autorun.exe that provide to start new paing when TomTom run, and so must delete this folder.... i made olso this thing... nut nothing .... :D((((
Guest stevie_mac Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 (edited) My friend has TomTom mobile + C500 and I have a BT77. We tried many times to get it working (TomTom kept deleting the Bluetooth pairing) but we eventually got it going... I'm not sure which bit fixed it - but this is the final steps that got it going... Installed Traffic patch from this thread Deleted the 2577 folder. Using SmartExplorer, took the 'read only' attribute off every TomTom file. Restarted phone. Turned on BlueTooth Paired to BT77 (pass code 0000) & called it 'TomTom Wireless GPS' Started TomTom Pressed HOME & then went into settings/BlueTooth & paired it again as 'TomTom Wireless GPS' (it had disappeared again) Returned to TomTom & Quit out of it Checked Pairing to GPS was still there - OK Restarted Phone Checked Pairing to GPS was still present - OK Switched BlueTooth OFF Started TomTom & waited patiently - BlueTooth started & found GPS. This may not be the exact steps we took - but it start working somewhere in all this mess. Hope it helps (if it does help, then be sure to let everyone know what you did) {EDIT} > We also (somewhere in the middle) switched ActiveSync back to USB > When pairing, we did it by switching off Outbound COM Port 7 (followed by done) then switching ON Outbound COM Port 7 (followed by done) - this starts the pairing process {/EDIT} Regards - Steve. The way I fixed it was to start TTGPSEng before TomTom. TomTom then stopped deleting the pairing and started to use the GPS. I just make sure I always run TTGPSEng before TomTom or it goes back to deleting the pairing. Ian
