how to blend bars behind pictures ?

Hi

since having ruttensofts homescreen designer i been trying to make bars to lay plugins such as time, date etc and have picture bars behind the central picture. see examples below

These are the styles i was thinking of. so far i just manage to do this one. which was real hard to get perfect

kleinweder set the standard that i would like to achieve seen some nice of late. and dont release my skins till they are decent. could anyone give me some tips????

if yOur using PhotoShop then use the magnetic cut tool go around the pedges of the character.Then right click and select cut via layer,This will bring the character forward and you then create new layer and place your bars in the new layer then place it between the background layer and the character you have cut out.

yeah saw it this morning! my gorl called it dirty!!! I laughed.......kinda apt seeing its christina :D gonna have a go tonight after england match. Will give you first look :D
