Guest chucky.egg Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 With Mapopolis the software is free, and you pay for the maps. The demo maps that you can download are time-limited, so you can see how it works, but I'm not sure if there is a demo map for the US. If you buy maps for an area (Western Europe for example) you can download those maps as often as you need to - but you'll want to do it from a PC cos they're big Unlike Mapopolis the package from TomTom includes a GPS receiver, and is not legally available via eBay. Because of the fact that it has it's own GPS there is no trial version either. Check coverage of the countries you are interested in before parting with any cash, but having used both I would (and did!) buy TomTom. Make sure you get it from somewhere reputable though - dodgy copies from eBay may not work, and you wont get access to the Traffic features etc.
