Guest DrScouse Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 After reading many things about the SPV (good and bad), I thought what the hell, teething problems which will eventually be rectified... so I got one..... After charging the handset, today was the first real test... ok, so sometimes navigation is a bit slow, but I can live with that... Anyway, twice today the phone has appeared to go into some sort of standby mode, from which it wont wake up. The light still flickers on it, so I know it is on, but no matter what I do it will not reactivate!! I have to physically remove the battery and reset it... Anyone had similar experiences??? One of the main reasons I got this phone was for MP3 playback, but when I saw all its other features I though it sounded great. Luckily I got a 14 day money back quarantee on it... so.. should I percevere pr dend it back!!!! This then poses the question what handset to get. I love the features of this, but think it is all a bit too new at the moment. The Sony P800 is not available yet.......
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 You done all the speedup tricks? Change to a custom homescreen (e.g. Symbios from www.smartphony.org), set multipress timeout to 1/2 second, turn off keypress sounds? P
Guest Deemon Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 The lockups are a common fault im afraid.... says the man whos SPV is locked more often than it is working at the minute..
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Well, mine really doesn't ever lock up? I am quite careful about installing virtually everything to SD tho, and I have removed anything that looks unnecessary from the Startup folder... P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I've never had mine lock, ever. I de-certified it last night an tried installing about 20 different applications (only got regedit and a notepad app to work :/) and then uninstalling them, still no problem. Its as fast as it normally is and no lockups...
