Guest Darrone3dr Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Hi guys, Not sure if this problem exists on all smartphones but it's really annoying me! I have 4 albums saved on my miniSD card. In Windows Media Player it lists them in the Playlist as one file/tune after the other (fine so far!) but it jumbles them up in the album ... for example 10, 8, 5, 9, 3, 7, 6, 1, 4, 2 !!!!!!! Then the next album will start and and that will also be jumbled up!! I've tried looking for a setting but can't find anything. Does anyone else experience this? Cheers Darrone

Cheers Darrone <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes, i have the very exact same problem. i have 500mb of music on my phone and the playlist from media player puts it all in the most random order possible. it bothers me... but not so much that i want to do anything about it. untill now.
Guest scm7rap Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 I have a mixture of music and videos. Annoys me because if I go to view a vid I don't want the player to automatically start playing the next vid or song. But there doesn't seem to be anything to stop Player from running through all the files.

I noticed that it displays the files in the order found on the card. So if I copy files one by one in the order I prefer the list is ok. This problem is one of the reasons why I am waiting for an upgrade to version 10.
Guest k-weil Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Try Betaplayer. It's free and works good with playlists.
Guest influenz Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 This is a problem I had too, however asx files came to the rescue ! Simply an asx file is just a text file with mark up like xml. It looks something like this... <asx version= "3">
<Ref Href = "001_Song.wma" />

<Ref Href = "002_Tune.wma" />
</asx> This file acts as a playlist, playing in the order set out in the file. You don't have to type all this out tho. There are various asx file creators ( i use this: http://www.fox-ts.nildram.co.uk/AsxMaker/AsxMaker.zip ) which let you drag and drop a list of tunes, re-order if needed and outputs an asx playlist. Generally each album i put on the phone is in it's own folder, in that folder i also place the asx file which lists the contents of this album. Then via activesync, i create a shortcut to this asx file in \storage\windows\start menu\playlists\ so i can then launch any of my albums straight from the start menu. ;-]
Guest matthew.matthews Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 There is an easier way if you have a minisd converter and a card reader. Put you minisd card in the converter then insert it into card reader and open the card using windows media connect. When u drag items into it they will appear in order on the phone. I have tested this and it works.

Guest Darrone3dr Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 Phew! I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem! Copying them one by one would make sense to fix it, but that a bit long ain't it!! And influenz - Going FAR too deep for me just to listen to some music!! I might give Beta Player a go I think. Thanks guys! Darrone
Guest leinadafc Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 (edited) I use Playlist Manager 2003. This allows you to build playlist files on the phone. Guest xerxes Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 i got it sorted.... i couldn't be more thrilled :| <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are any of you guys who are using Playlist Manager having trouble being able to select and open folder or select (check) files for inclusion in lists? When I press the select button to do one of these functions the screen flickers like it done the action and then undone it again really fast. If I hold the button down I start XBar2.
Guest Wastedyuthe Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 I personally use Betaplayer - if you put your songs into seperate album folders on your card, you can select which album you want in Betaplayer by selecting which folder to go into, then select all and hey presto (i think you may need to make sure the file names have the track number included for the right order though). But also it plays AVI files and has other functions like an equaliser! Brilliant- everything WMP9 should've been.

I'm not sure why but it actually plays a WMV file with less artifacts than Windows Media!
