Setting an imported ringtone ?

Ive got a few mp3 ringtones to use but not sure if the phone will accept this format ?

Does anyone know where the tones have to be placed on the phone in order to use them?

On my O2 Xphone II, the ringtones are placed in this folder:

\Storage\Application Data\Sounds\

Thanks, thats done the trick. Looks as though it doesn't like mp3 though but the wav's are fine.
