Guest scrattyrat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Has anybody had any experience with changing the language settings on Windows mobile 2nd ed from a non english language (ie German) into English? I am thinking of buying a smartphone from Germany (due to price/availablity) and have been told it is no hassle to change the language settings from German to English. Does anyone have any comments/suggestions/warnings about doing this. The manual will be foriegn but this is ok as i have an english version. Whilst i expect the menus/help files to change OK i am more concerned about things like system information and registry settings etc remaining in German after i change the language. Cheers!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 As far as I'm aware the registry is in English no matter what language you use. This is only from tests I have done.
Guest scrattyrat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 (edited) was the phone made for sale in a non-english speaking country? ie the phone you have seen this on? I want to get an SDA music, and these are only sold in Germany. Thanks for the reply. Edited March 31, 2005 by scrattyrat
Guest Esquire Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I have a Chinese version O2 Xphone II and while changing to English in Regional Settings works for 99.9% of the GUI, the Bluetooth pairing menu is still in Chinese! Called O2 Singapore support and was told it's built into the ROM and cannot be fixed
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 What about the registry though?
Guest Esquire Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 I haven't installed any Registry Editor yet - I don't even have one on my iPAQ, but as far as I know it should be in English, at least the Keys and Strings are if not the data value, just like its bigger Windows sibling.
