Help accessing T-Mobile GPRS via IR laptop

Help! I've been trying to set my dad's laptop up correctly to connect to T-Mobile GPRS through an IR connection using an unlocked SPV C500.

On the laptop I've created a new dial-up connection using *99# as the number to dial, and with the "Standard modem over IR" set as the modem to use. I've left the username and password fields blank and entered no other info such a initialisation strings.

I got it working using these settings a couple of days ago, but now my dad's gone on holiday for nine days and can't get it to connect.

Tried doing searches on here and Google but can't find any definitive info for my dad's setup...are there any settings I'm missing?

Any help hugely appreciated! :D
