Guest sereno Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 My communications manager at work was so impressed with my MPx220 that he decided to equip the rest of our sales force with the phone. He talked to his Cingular rep, and found out the phone is no longer available through Cingular. I checked the Cingular web site myself, and sure enough... no more MPx220s are available through Cingular directly - at least in my region (Milwaukee, WI). Does anyone know why the phone has been pulled? Are there too many problems with the phone? Is the new series of the MPx (announced Dec, 2004) about to come out? Is this a regional thing only? Jon
Guest hamsammich Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 My local Cingular corporate stores have them...I just bought mine recently. ???

They did this last year when the ROM was updated to 1.3; all retails stores returned their stock, but online sources still had the phones. As far as anyone knows, this is what's happening now. But Moto is not known for sharing their secrets, so I could be waaaaay off base!

Since no one knows a damn thing at the retail stores, I would go with the person above in maybe they are doing a firmware update.

I think they are just doing more software fixes. I work for Cingular and that is what I've been told. I have no idea when they would be coming back.
Guest ppcmd Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Well I hope it fixes the random reboots and shut downs along with the other quirks like volume. As long as the updater tool gets the update quickly I will be happy.
Guest i_oWn_u Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 is there anything anybody could do right now to get that volume problem solved so its louder? anyupdate or anything.
Guest staybay Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I've been having trouble getting the MPX220 from AT&T/Cingular as well. They still seem plentiful in the Cingular stores around me (in Chicago) but when I call AT&T or Cingular to order it, they don't have it. I get a significant discount through my company if I call their business number and order it that way so I'm trying to wait until it comes available there again. All the phone reps can tell me is that their inventory lists say "Available soon." If anyone knows when soon is, please share!
Guest EliteXen Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 is there anything anybody could do right now to get that volume problem solved so its louder? anyupdate or anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you tried going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Phone (values) and setting 'Vol' to 52428 or 4294967295. I tried that when I first got the phone and noticed a marginal difference, but my brother, who's more sensitive to these things than myself, said it was a huge improvement when I did it to his phone.
