Guest jasonh Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 Hi I have just got my MPX 220 and plugged it into my system (Win XP SP2) and on connection it beeps at finding a device but then windows cannot find a valid driver for it and reports that the device is malfunctioning... has anyone come accross this or have any ideas?

Guest Paraklas Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 You have to have the Driver installed first. It will identify the phone as "Motorola Mpx220 Smartphone" or something similar. Here's the driver attached below. Unzip it and when prompted install it.smartfon.zip

Guest riven Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 Addtionally, There are a few steps to do before you sync it with ActiveSync (but this may be alleviated by Paraklas' posted driver). For the life of me, I cannot remember where I saw this (update tool, software, etc) but I had to first connect the Mpx220 through my USb cable with the battery disconnected. This allowed it to find the wireless portion. When it was done installing that, you have to connect with the battery installed. I think the directions said that you might see the Unknown USB device once, but that was it. I havent had any issues since I followed those directions. Not sure if that helps or not.... ::cheers::
