Any ideas? i been converting all my music ape files to Windows media, can i convert them more? most my music files are around 3.7 to 4.9 mb'safter conversion? seems large to me?

What compression rate are you using when you record the music into WMA? Cue big discussion about which compression ratio is best, but I use 64kps as it ends up sounding pretty decent and I think the loudspeaker / headphones are the limiting factor in quality rather than the quality of the tune.

At this compression rate most of my songs end up between 1.5 and 2.5Mb.

Have fun, and let the compression rate argument commence... :D

No. You can certainly use a lower bitrate. I use 64kbps for WMA.

If you wish to switch to a lower bitrate, you can resample/reconvert your existing files (on the PC). What program are you using to convert/rip your music to WMA?

If you're using Windows Media to send them over you can set the bitrate for copying on that. That way you can have higher bitrates on your PC and lower bitrates on your phone. I tend to have 196 on PC and 64 on SP. Admittedly the copy process takes a bit longer but it's a good way to do it.
