Guest dudlet Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 :?: I recently purchased the Audiovox SMT5600 which, of course, is the same thing as the i-mate SP3. I was told, however, that I would have to use an AT&T SIM card with it and not a Cingular SIM card. They said it wouldn't even recognize a Cingular SIM card because Cingular SIM cards are 64 bit and AT&T SIM cards are 32 bit. Anyway, the real problem is this. I live in Charlotte, NC. When Cingular merged with AT&T, they had to sell some of the AT&T markets to regional carrier. In our case this was a carrier called Suncom. The old AT&T network's coverage here stinks! However, the Cingular coverage is pretty good. I was told that I would get moved over to Suncom and, thus, be stuck on a crappy network. Is there anyway that I can get this phone to work on the Cingular network instead? If so, what would I need to do to make it work?

You could do this online by paying for the unlock code but you should also be able to get the code from AT&T if you explain that you wish to change to a Cingular SIM. You could also try going into a Cingular shop and see if they can help you progress it through Cingular.

I was in your same situation...bought the phone on ATT. Two weeks later, I migrated to Cingular. I paid to unlock the phone, removed all the ATT branding, and put in my Cingular 64K SIM card. The phone works flawlessly.
Guest Cylon Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Do you still get ATT and a roaming indication? When I look at the available networks in the phone (when trying to go manual) it only shows Tmobile and ATT (Salt Lake City area). Cylon

I need to find out if there is a way to customize the main menu and remove any reference to mMode and its default link such as Sports, Entertainment, News and Search. I have data services subscription with cingular and wanted to integrate my phone with Cingular Media service. Any idea how I can do it. Help!
