Guest aliaird Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Hi everyone. My work has just issued us with Orange SPV C500 phones, which is nice of them. 8) But... I live in an area that can't get a good Orange signal, so what I was wondering was if there was a way I could create a shortcut, preferably on my home screen, that would allow me to toggle Diverts on and off so when I was at home I could get calls diverted to another phone that works where I live? They also disabled GPRS, which I thought was most unkind. I assme that is done by Orange and they will need permission from the company, but if anyone has any cunning workaround thoughts then I'd be interested! Any idea anyone? In particular on the first point? Many thanks Ali
Guest drblow Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) Hi Ali, and welcome to the forum! :D In theory, you should be able to do this using the Orange e200 plugin. If the things you need to access are just in the settings menu, then you could use keyclicks in the plugin to create a shortcut. If you are totally new to smartphones then this is fairly advanced, but if you know xml or are willing to learn, then download my Cobalt theme from the homescreen downl;oads section. The zip file contains a 'how to' document on the e200 plugin (well, everything I could find out anyway :D ), and how to replicate keyclicks with it to create shortcuts from the homescreen. You can see these examples of shortcuts in some of my themes (Opera, SilverTabs) or Crafty's (ICandy, Gant). EDIT: oh, sorry - dunno anything about the gprs thing though! :D Edited April 4, 2005 by drblow
Guest aliaird Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Thanks for that, I'll certainly have a look. I am totally new to smartphones. I've got a Dell Axim x50v PDA so have learnt a bit customising the home screen on that, but it's much simpler than the smartphone interface. I can just download a freeware launcher, have it on my homescreen and attach shortcuts into it, all nice and simple! However playing around with xml sounds like a bit of fun. Other things I want to be able to do are devise shortcuts for turning bluetooth and infrared on and off, but I guess if I can do the above then that should be a breeze! Many thanks Ali
Guest Confucious Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 (edited) Check out BTTogle for turning BT on and off (itr does exactly what it says on the tin) as for IR - does anyone stil use it? Edited April 5, 2005 by Confucious
