Guest Perfectionist Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Got my Jam and ordered a 1Gb SD Card off Ebay which took a few weeks to arrive - so in the meantime I used only my old 128Mb SD Card with nothing much more than TomTom Navigator installed..... this seemed to give me a fantastic battery life ! Once the 1Gb Card arrived I naturally installed as much as I could onto both the device and the card..... now it seems to be eating all the battery power ?? I have the Pocket Backup program which puts a nice set of indicators on the Today screen showing Battery Level, Memory Available and CPU Usage - the CPU usage hovers around 13% even when no applications are running..... is this normal or are some of the programs I installed chewing up CPU cycles which is what is draining the battery ?? Is there any software available which could show where this 13% is being used ? Or has the battery itself (only a couple of months old) got a problem ?? :D
Guest amo Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Naturally, we'd need a bit more information to be able to best judge whats happening. You said you've installed more programs onto both memories - are any of these programs active without you realising at any time? Does the higher capacity SD card draw more power than the older 128Mb card? How much time are you getting out of the battery exactly?
Guest MitchellO Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Is it a high speed card. I have read they use more power than standard ones. I use a 1Gb Sandisk standard card and have experienced no noticable drop it battery life. I get great life when using my WiFi card (less than the 1gb sd but very acceptable). What is the brand and speed? They could determine the power usage.
Guest Perfectionist Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks for the replies :D The card I'm using is a 60X ATP .... http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/3980.htm I have a pretty full today screen - might this have something to do with it ? Also, on a totally differant note - I use vBar which keeps showing that the "Phone" is active even though there is nothing running and it wont close down either - is this just a normal funtion ?
Guest MitchellO Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Yeah, i use vBar and phone is always in the list. A slight problem that is has with WM2003SE Phone Edition. If the device is off, i don't see why you should eperience drain from the today screen.
Guest i_oWn_u Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I have so much stuff on my phone when i use it once as to play a game for 3 min. takes 10% of my battery. Have to charge it every night or before. Anyone have a simular problem? :?:
Guest Perfectionist Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 ME ! I have way too much cool stuff jammin up all my memory..... but then isn't that why we got the the gadget in the first place !! I would hate it if I had to keep it almost empty of just to get some decent battery life :D I charge it everyday through the USB cable, leaving it connected (with ActiveSync running) all night ..... would this cause any problems ??
Guest i_oWn_u Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 why active sync? I charge it through the real charger
Guest Perfectionist Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Cos its the most convenient with a PC on my desk :D
Guest MitchellO Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Yeah, its more convenient. It is also like having an additional charger. When I got to my dads I never have to bring my charger as i plug into his PC. doesn't need activesync or anything, just plug it in and it gets power!!
