I am having difficulty unlocking my C500 (PAYG) which has been bought to replace a previous C500 on contract. So to clarify, I am still in contract and am using the new C500 bought on PAYG with it. Works fine but I want to app unlock the phone. Now, I am going here: http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx All is well until I hit submit. I get the error returned as follows: Sorry but we are unable to find the IMEI number that you have entered on our database. If you are certain that the details you have entered are correct, consult the following solutions: etc ... Now, I have used the registry application and have made a connection to the internet through pass through and otherwise, but still I get the same error on every attempt. The registry App when run on the C500 reads: Registered: YES Lock: Running So to me it seems the phone is reg'd. Anyone have any ideas as to why I cannot app unlock this phone please? My last C500 was unlocked no problem using the same url. Thanks for any info ...
Guest pjam001 Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 I'm no expert as I don't even have my c500 yet but I'm sure I read on here somewhere that someone had a phone that said the lock was running but it actually was unlocked.

Is this specific to the phone? Or can anyone else propvide me with the necessary app or point me to a download location? I have unlocked several c500's in the past - this one I am having extretme difficulty with. Have O changed their methods or is it because this one is PAYG? If anyone has any ideas how to get this thing unlocked, please post! Ta.

Do you know if it matters that it's a PAYG phone (replacement for contract phone) and tehrefore the IMEI will not match the phone number to which the contract phone was associated? Any thoughts as to how long I can expect to wait for their response?

I am pretty sure after all that I have read there are many people in the same boat here. Just want to be sure it's not 'cos it's a PAYG replacement for my contract phone as explained in this thread. Hopefully, I will get a response from O soon providing me with the app. Interestingly. C500's I have unlocked before cannot be unlocked by the OTA method now either. Seems the site is totally fubar'd !

Guest Swampie Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I too emailed Orange as per pzee's post and within 40 minutes they'd emailed me a personalised app for my IMEI and it worked. The only trouble I had was finding where it had installed on my phone. Turned out it was stored under the 'Accessories' menu. Whilst my C500 ran every app I'd thrown at it before, it wouldn't allow certain registry changes (eg. Tweaks2k2 thingy) - now it does. Unfortunately, I've now run out of free uses of that app - but that's another story. D
