WMP10 and Skins

Hi all, I have an SP3i with WMP10. This has a skin chooser built in, but don't know where to put the files to have the skin show up on the phone...any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Oh, I have read the instructions on Microsoft's website (and others) to create a directory in either My Documents or the Windows Media directory. But haven't got them to show up in the chooser as yet. Thanks...

How is it possible to have Windows media player 10 on SP3i?

Because i have SP3i with the latest firmware update from I-mate but unfortunately i don't have windows media player 10!

the simple facts are:

the only phone that has windows media 10 (at the time of writing - 9th april 2005) is the audiovox5600

there is not a rom update that you can install to give you wm10 available to download

asking for it doesn't make it available, if you need mediaplayer 10 buy an audiovox, or wait for the next phones to be released that will have it included

when an update is available for your phone, it will be posted on the main page

The skin file is different for wmp 10. Have a look at one i made for the MSN Homescreen:

Oh just to add to what beery said...keeps posts ON TOPIC! This guy wants to know about how to skin WMP10. This doesnt mean you can take over his topic to ask for WMP10 for your phone. If your provider doesnt release WMP10 for your phone...tough.

you do the same as you do for normal wmp skining...just with diff skin file :D

go through the cab file of the homescreen you downloaded, open the xml and see where it puts the skn file...then replace it with the new one :D

As explained to you on irc countless times to have wmp10 on your phone you need the audiovox rom.

he is from barbados, so i think his sp3i is the us version including wmp10.

I have an SP3i US version (bought from expansys-usa.com) and it DOES have WMP10 on it. I had a problem with my joystick and sent the phone to Dubai, when it came back it had a UK mainboard in it, I couldn't connect to my network, and it had WMP9. I sent it back again, and they brought in a mainboard from HTC (called it a Rockies mainboard) installed that one and sent it back to me. Now back to normal, and no more joystick problems. But took two months in all! The ROM on the clubimate site says not to install on US version phone...for good reason!

But on the skin question, I was really wondering where to put the skin! No one has really answered directly as yet, and I can't figure it out. The default skin is in the Windows directory, but I don't want to over-write it. And I thought that with a skin-chooser built into WMP10 I wouldn't have to edit the registry. Any ideas? Thanks!

No you still have to edit the reg as the default skin folder is in \Windows

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Media Player\

You do not have to make any registry entries.

You can place the .skn file anywhere on the phone. When you go into the skin chooser it searches the entire phone for .skn files. The reason it is not showing up in the skin chooser is because there is something wrong with the .skn file. WMP10 is very strict about the format of the .skn file and will not even display it as an option if it is not properly formed.
