Hi all, just got my sd wifi card and was wondering whats the best ppc software for scanning for wifi access points. Ive read that some people run a piece of software whilst driving around that shows available access points. Also will my wifi card work in the US as i am on holiday there next month, I know that RF frequencies are different in the US , is wifi a global standard.

Mini Netstumbler is the freeware programme of choice.

As to the US, AFAIK Wifi is a world wide standard (Ebuyer is often guilty of supplying grey imports from the States as UK spec goods.)

I found MiniStumber to not be as good as WiFiFoFum. I removed it, and still use WiFiFoFum from my ROM Storage.

I agree , been playing with wififo today and it really is excellent , am i right in thinking that any connection it finds with wep turned off can be accessed for free.

Not all. some (like tmobile hotspots) don't have wep on, but you have to go into IE and logon with you tmob username/password or buy some time on the network. Many though are free.

well i have wififofum installed and if i drive around i get that list of networks etc..but i havent been able to connect to any of them even the ones that say wep is off...i must have a setting or something wrong.

Is there a kind soul can help me sort out whats happening so i can utilise these hot spots. It sees my home netweork ok but i just cant connect to any others...

A fool proof walk through for this spv 2000 would be a godsend as regards this programme

The Connect button in WiFiFoFum doesn't seem to work. You need to wait for the Zero Config bubble to pop down from the taskbar to select the network you want.
