Guest cabane77 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Hi guys, i would like some real advice from u people. lately av been reading about the C500, and am really starting to like and although av got the very nice P900, i am strongly considering getting the C500. however, it seems that the C550 should be out soon, so i dont know what to do. should i wait for the C550 or go for the C500 NOW ??? can anyone please please advise me on this ??? thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Welcome to the site :D Tricky one as there is no definate date as yet for the C550. If you can wait a couple of months then I would see what happens.
Guest dj_sea Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 id get the c500, as i am doing now, because it is the easier option, chances are the c550 will be expensive or most likely out of stock by time it comes out, i would get the c500 and then wait a year or something and then get the c550 when the heat has died down.
Guest pierre Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I would wait as I'm pretty sure we will soon know more about this model. Sure get a C500 if u got $ to spend again when the 550 is out.

So its either the C500 ...or the C550. I don't have any experience whatsoever with the SPVs. But do people think that the c550 will be something everyone will be looking out for ? and hence be out with a big price ?
Guest confused and hungover Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 the c500 recently came down in price... the 550 is gonna be well expensive, IF you can get hold of one
Guest Confucious Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 It's the same with any computer related thing. Something better is just arround the corner. The C550 will probably be more expensive and difficult to get hold of when it is release d but is a better phone. I believe iot is due out next month but with phones release dates tend to slip so you could end up waiting some time. The C500 is a great phone, the C550 will be better but do you want to wait and risk the release date slipping? Only you can make the decision, if you already have 3 phones you are not desperate to get a new one I assume but you've got to take the plunge sometime - once you've got an SPV you won't look back :D Let us know what yoiu decide.
Guest jbrare Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Get the C500 if you need a phone. Dust can be a problem but the features make up for it. Also wait until the c550 bugs have been sorted before you buy. Don't ever buy a HTC product streight after release, always wait until you know what you are getting yourself into. JB

JB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thanks a lot for the replies guys, i really appreciate it. Well i will wait a little bit for some more info on the c550. then i would most probably go for the c500 (hoping to get an even cheaper deal). I just had a play with a c500. its so small and so cool...

JB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm, right that SPVs have bugs, but it makes no difference to wait, because there is hardly any improvement later after a release. :|

But like you say, other things remain a bit buggy in some areas. JB
Guest RoVal1972 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I bought my SPV 1 month ago and I am really happy with it. All the others made good comments. If there will be a new model, definitelly the price will much bigger. I also have a SE T630 very nice and pretty good. And I was thinking at that time to wait for K750, but does it worth it to pay a bigger price just to be the first one who has a new model !?!? In my opinion, definitely no ! Best, VM
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I do not agree with the idea of the phone being expensive as that would go against what has happend with all releases on the smartphone format to date. The first few weeks they start at £200 then crash down to £100 on contract in next to no time. Personally I would expect to see the same again.
Guest Confucious Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Ash is, of course right, but that means waiting a few weeks after the launch which could be some time away anyway.
Guest Axxll Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I am nearly lost.. Shall I go for SP3i or SP3. SPV C-500 I have read that the SP3i has joystick problem ? there are more features in SPP3i than in SP3. Isn't SPV3 c-500 = SP3 ?? will any of these phones take a Wi Fi card.? if yes which card? thanks for your help

The HTC Typhoon is sold under various different names depending on where you are in the world. The C500 is the same as the SP3 but in the UK it is heavily subsidised by Orange so is the obvious choice in the UK but if you donm't like the rocker swhitch you can get the SP3i dhich has a joystick although this is still only 5-way. Nomne of them will take a Wi-Fi card. HTH Edited April 8, 2005 by Confucious

Orange (and other operators) nowadays want to sell a lot of SPVs as the incentives are good for them in terms of GPRS usage. If C550 happens to be UMTS, it will make even more sense to make it affordable (or else who will use the brand new UMTS' network?)
