I can only edit certain keys on my C500 - any ideas why? It's app unlocked (I can run unsigned apps fine) but when I use Smartione I can only see anything under HKCR - all the other hives appear empty. When I use PHM Registry Editor on the handset, I can view keys in all hives but can only create / edit them in certain places. I want to add ClearType=1 to HKLM\System\GDI but it tells me "Error Unable to perform this operation" when I try to create a key there.

Any ideas please as it's driving me mad...

I just implemented a new method of writing in locked registry keys in version 1.1.5 of Tweaks2k2. I'm not sure yet but it could be that this method the solution for the inplementation of Cleartype in his phone :D but I'm not sure yet.

So... there is absolutely no way of editing keys like the one for ClearType manually?

well, only a very few service operators are selling phone locking them in a way that these simple registry keys can´t be changed. To me they are violeting the rights of any user to install and customize the phone in the way you want. My advice, call them and ask them to unlock your phone so you can install and change what ever you want to change. Like a said already looking to my numbers. Only a few percentage of the market is currently in this condition. You are one of them.

let me add. no only manually.

the only way would be if your service operator sign the application to do that. And I doubt that they are going to sign an application that will allow users to change the settings on their phone. In another hand, speaking about myself, I´m not willing to pay for something else but the developers tool. They are the one that should make their market attractive to us developers.

So I purchased your app from you on the understanding that it would be able to alter certain settings on my phone - and I've now discovered it won't do that because it's not signed...? That doesn't make me very happy.

you discovered that your phone is locked, I would say more locked that what the rest of the phones in the world. You discovered that your phone is part of the selected group of around 20% or less of phones where the service operator decided to have full control over the phone that you paid.

In the other 80 % even with the phone locked and my application not signed I can change the registry and apply 100% of all tricks.

I should add to you that a trial is available that allows users to find if the application can apply all the registry hacks in their phones.

In your phone Tweaks2k2 will be able to apply in this current version 12 out of the 16s hacks current available.

Also, for your information, Tweaks2k2 is not just the only application that it´s not signed. I would say that the majority of the applications are not signed. So you will run into this problem many many times. Also, for your information, and application like Tweaks2k2 wont be signed even if I want to get it signed just because Tweaks2k2 is designed to change settings that they (service operators) don´t want you to change. :D

If I was you, I would call my service operator telling them that I´m unhappy to know that they decided to lock my phone not letting me customize it in anyway I like. :D

You need to unlock your phone. Whilst Orange have reduced the lock level from what they used to put on their original SPV, it does still stop you from altering certain registry keys. Mine was the same - I could run lots of apps, but not change certain registry settings.

What you need to do is go to Orange's unlock page (URL found elsewhere on the forums) and unlock your phone. If that doesn't work (IMEI not found etc, like I had) then just follow the links they give to email them all the details they need and they'll build you a personalised app that'll only run on your phone, but allows you to remove all the app locks on your phone. I got it within 45 mins of emailling them and since then everything works as you'd expect.

All you need to do is to download SecurityOff (Smartione) to enable RAPI mode.

http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/3378.html

It changes HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 key value from "2" (locked) to "1" (unlocked) state.

Currently you have value "2" (locked). After running SecurityOFF thus changing mentioned above value to "1" (unlocked) and restarting you phone, you will be able to edit all registry keys manually with PHM Regedit.

I have just included a hack in the latest version of Tweaks2k2 .NET 1.3 that change the application lock status of the phone. By doing that you are going to be able to write in the registry too.

Could you check in your registry and tell me what value do you see under

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000100f

TIA
