Guest Alex_le_brit Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) Hi I recently reflashed the ROM on my SPV Classic, bcause the camera wasn't working and the company that sold it to me advised it. Before reflashing I used both Orange backup and Sprite, then reflashed the phone, then restored using Orange no problem, then I restored using Sprite, again no problem although it told me it had to alter ActiveSync's settings so that my phone was seen as a guest. It all restored fine, and then phone works as before (although the camera still doesn't) but now Activesynch doesn't recognise that the phone is even connected, and shows No Partnerships. I followed the help and it told me to look at the Device Manager, which shows Windows CE USB Devices -> HTC USB Sync. Help suggested deleting this rebooting the PC and then reconnecting the phone after a soft reset. Did all this and still the same problem. I then uninstalled Activesync, and reinstalled from Microsoft, had the dreaded 92% stoppage, but just left the PC and it seemed to resolve itself and install. But still the same problem. I disabled ZoneAlarms firewall and AVG Virus check just in case. To check it wasn't a fault with the slot on the phone I plugged in my Eleksen keyboard which works fine. Any ideas what I should do? Obviously I'm relunctant to hard reset the phone unless I truly have to because at the moment I've got no way of reinstalling anything after, and it strikes me as a software problem on the PC. System Specs are: PC - Windows 2000 Pro - ActiveSync 3.8 (English version) Phone - SPV Classic - Orange France ROM 1.6 Edited April 8, 2005 by Alex_le_brit
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Try this http://www.modaco.com/Plugged_in_cradle_be..._here-t142.html Also as mention in your other posts, the camera problem is more likely to be a hardware fault with the contacts on the connectors than the software and hard reset\flashing that this company you used has advised. Maybe you should suggest to them that they come here for advice :D Also check there is nothing shorting the contacts.
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Well I tried everything on that thread and the damn thing still doesn't work. The PC knows it's there because Device Manager shows an entrey for Windows CE USB Devices -> HTC USB Sync. Is it hard reset time?
Guest Confucious Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I doubt very much if a hard reset would have any effect as the problem (I believe) is with the PC. Have you got another USB port you can use? You have already tried removing USB devices in safe mode? If that still doesn't work google for removing hidden devices - when a device isn't connected windows can get confused and think it's still there but not show it as a device until it's connected which, of course, it can't do as it doesn't recognise it. There is a method of seeing and removing these devices but, off the top of my head, I can't remember how. Good luck.
