Guest clarkycat Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Hi :D Just joined. Have Orange SPV C500. I have a 256MB card installed and have some PDF files on it which i have downloaded from my PC. I am pretty sure all the data is on the card as i can see each seperate PDF file, title and size. I have downloaded the trial Clearvue to my PC and then onto the card. When i try to view the PDF's i have to select an 'open with' I try the CV Suite, but get an error message. I am not 100% computer literate, so if anyone can give me a pointer then please bare that in mind :D Maybe an idiots guide of this exsists on an old thread? I tried searching, but the results i found were of the ilk 'not this again, try searching..' The file is actually a workshop manual for my Lotus. Would be dead handy to have it in my pocket!
Guest clarkycat Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I try the CV Suite, but get an error message. It says: "_TDE_Technical_Data_Engine" (the PDF file i'm trying to read) is not a valid windows CE application

It works quite well .You can find a trial mode download at www.smartphone.net or www.cerience.com
Guest chucky.egg Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 "_TDE_Technical_Data_Engine" (the PDF file i'm trying to read) is not a valid windows CE application <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds like it hasn't associated the PDF file type with the ClearVue PDF application Does it work if you do it the other way around? Open ClearVue PDF (or whatever it's called, I don't have it myself) and try browsing to the file and opening it. If that works then ClearVue is working, but (possibly) the phone doesn't know what to use to open the PDF files. If that does not work then try reinstalling ClearVue You can manually edit the file type associations using Smart Explorer (and probably others apps too). In SmartExplorer go File - Open - Open With, then Menu - Add to list and browse to whereever you installed the ClearVue apps to. When you've selected the right app choose Done, and then tick the box that says "Always open with this app" HTH but ask if you need more help
Guest clarkycat Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Hey thanks for the help :D I was not running the CV install properly and had loaded the setup onto my phone instead! I now have all the clearvue stuff, i can select one of my PDF files and then scroll/zoom over completely Blank pages  Were they not blank, every aspect from finding/opening/viewing works fine, for a while i thought i was just waiting for them to load, but they definately are blank. The larger files have more blank screens than the smaller ones, so i'm sure the data is there somewhere. I'm not stressing over this, as it would just be an unexpected and useful function to have. i must be close though?
