Guest pradaboy Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 This device is simply amazing... I keep playing with it and there are soooooo many things I can do with it... awesome! Probably you know this already otherwise you wouldn't be visiting this thread :D First things first... the battery is still running from the juice that was in it. How do I go about the first charge? With cellphones it's required to let them run dry and then charge for a full 24 hours... is this the same with my Qtek or can I just charge it as I see fit and unplug it when it's full? Well after that's sorted I'll probably get the ROM and Radio updates installed... hope I can get that done by myself lol. Any idea what software is essential? I've checked out SPB Plus 2.5 and it looks useful but I was shocked to see that almost every app available is around $20... might have to do with me being a poor student *cough*cough*. So what are the bare essentails? I've downloaded BetaPlayer already... also DVD Decrypter and PocketDivx to get my DVD's on the Pocket PC. AvantGo too (which looks like a really great app!). Anything else I need? Oh btw I just ordered an Exim screenprotector... I heard those are the best, anyone have experience with them? Also I'm looking for a good cleaning set... is Klear Screen recommended? Kind regards, Rob
Guest MitchellO Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 1. Charge it whenever. It is better not to let it discharge too much. Always try to keep it topped up, don't wait until 5% before recharging. It is bad for the Li-Ion batteries to be deep-discharged. 2. Betaplayer is a must. I also use vBar ( www.vieka.com ) for running prog. management. Also like Handmark Monopoly and SPB GPRS Monitor.

Should I keep it hooked on 24 hours or just till it's full? I was looking at that GPRS monitor too, but it's another $20 added onto $20 for SPB Pocket Plus. If you say it's worth it I'll probably get it anyway
Guest GothTeddy Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 First charge doesn't need to be any longer than normal - it won't hurt to leave it plugged in once it's full, but there isn't any benifit either. After that, try to let it drop to about 30-40% before charging.
Guest amo Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I normally charge overnight with no negative effects (overnight can be up to 13 hours after a night out!). I charge mine regardless of battery state at night, pretty much religously. Theres a GPRS monitor built in btw...
Guest MitchellO Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I charge whenever too. Put it on when i go to bed, but not must more. It only really gets charged other times when I sync with a cable. I normally do over Bluetooth though. The Mini doesn't come with the GPRS monitor, only some brands of the magician do. I have seen the builtin one and it isn't as good though (from the jam)

ActiveSync keeps telling me I should put the USB cable in my device. I now have SPB Pocket Plus + SPB GPRS + Sprite Backup, BetaPlayer and a few games. Last night I watched a few SouthPark episodes on my Qtek :D
Guest MitchellO Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html Pocket Bluetooth Tools make it easy. when you pair your device (you will have to remove the pair and then remake it in the Bluetooth settings on the PDA), and it will ask you what services you want (which it doesn't by default). Tick activesync, and when you go into Activesync on the PDA, click tools and it will say "Connect via BT with (yourusername)". If you don't have BT on it will ask if you want to turn it on. When the sync is done, it will ask if you want it off.

I have no idea why.
