backlight doesn't turn on sometimes

My mpx220's backlight doesn't turn on when i open the phone sometimes. Then other times it does. Then sometimes it takes awhile for it to go on. Has anyone experienced the same problems? If so, is there anyway I can fix this?

Your mpx220 has a light sensor for the keypad backlighting. When it has adequate light the keypad will remain off in order to save battery until you enter a dark room or some place with not enough light.

I'm talking about the backlight of the screen, not the keypad.

Presumably theis works the same way as the MPX200 by means of a magnetic switch. It's possible that this compnent may be faulty.

have you tried calling the motorola folks? If not that is your best bet-- they will be able to direct you in the right direction
