Guest Disco Stu Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I remember this being discussed in the C500 section. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to do it. Developer One don't have a tool to do it either.

Guest Metoo Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 (edited) CodeWallet 2005 Desktop finally has an text import routine, so you could manipulate the data exported from EWallet desktop with Excel before importing it. But it's at a price - $51 for Codewallet and Desktop "bundle".That's on top of the cost of EWallet Desktop. In my book, that's way too late, and way too much. Personally, I've long stopped supporting software houses that don't allow open data exchange of data as standard, particularly when it's as important as the stuff you're likely to keep in programs such as this. With the multitude of platforms in use today (and the frequency we change them), data portability is a must. Developer One have only just reluctantly included the text import facility after years of user campaigning. The other "big two", eWallet and Flexwallet, are just as restrictive, and are only just waking up to the fact that customers might want to get data in and out of their applications electronically. There are other vendors which have had flexiible import/export from the start, and don't rip you off by charging extra for the desktop "companion" and sync facility, Splashdata is one. What's more, they allow your licence key to to be used on more than one platform. So if you change your handheld (or have two using different OS) you don't have to cough up again for the software. It's _your_ personal data - don't be fooled into locking it into somebody else's proprietary format, just because their program has prettier icons. As we can see from the latest version of CW, you'll pay heavily for the privilege. Edited April 11, 2005 by Metoo
