Guest Cypselos Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 hi Guys i've had a C500 for about a week. Yesterday it got really low on battery. after i strated charging it it keeps sticking on a wehite screen every time I turn it on the orange screen shows, then fades to white before the windows mobile screen shows. it seems to boot normally - after about the normal load time for windows the phane is apparently working normally - you can make calls, it makes the normal noises when you scroll about the menu. all of this however is with a bright white screen, so you don't actually know what you're doing. If you leave it fora few miuntes so the screen goes on stand by and then press a button, you very briefly see the 'desktop' before it flickers back to white again. I've installed the 4.1.1.4 update, and treid a hard reset - unfortunaetly with the white scrren it's hard to tell if the reset worked - although the home screenhas defaultedfrom what it was set on by me to the default. The only way to get the thing to turn off seems to be to remove the batteries. Any thoughts on what I can do to get it back to normal much appreciated. It did something similar when i first had it, but then started working properly. Cheers Ed
Guest pierre Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I would say it got spoiled. If no other solution, do bring it for repair.
Guest RT87 Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Hi, a friend has the exact same problem. However, he has never found a solution to fix the problem! :?: I will monitor this topic in the hope that someone provides a solution.
Guest Confucious Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Welcome to the forum Ed, sounds like your phone is FUBAR'ed. If you've only had it a week take it back and get a replacement. Had you installed any strange s/ware just before the problem occured? Have you tried booting with out the MiniSD card? I don't think it will help but mightbe worth a try. Good luck!
Guest RT87 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 This just seems to be a problem with C500s. Its nothing about just his phone as I have read other threads with people having the same problems, and my friend also has this problem.
Guest Cypselos Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 It's very strange. It's come back to life after a fashion - worked fine for a day or so and then went half broken - it's now usuable but flickering like a monitor on the wrong refresh rate. Are there any display settings I can play with?
Guest jakobdam Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 (edited) There are no settings for refresh rate, unless maybe in the registry. A hard reset should bring everything back to normal. However, it sounds to me like the backpanel diodes are committing collective suicide or something like that (maybe a loose connection) - which means, the best advice is the one Pierre gave you - bring it back for repair. I have a digital camera with about the same problem... it helps to knock it physically around the battery compartment, but I only do that because there's no warranty left. I certainly don't recommend violence on any devices, but it seems to help in some cases... :D Edited April 13, 2005 by jakobdam
