Guest crankydan Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 :?: Confused........oh yes So I’m exploring the realms of downloading music to my SPV (Original 1st model) opened windows media player 10 on my laptop….downloaded music from msn 69p a shot……sync to mobile device…..Errors? file may not be of the same format? ……OK so I’ll copy the file manually……No!! the message on spv says The licence for this file could not be found. Use windows media player on you pc to copy the file to your device again….OK so tried that and you guessed it Error! May not be of the same format Any Ideas Simon
Guest chucky.egg Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I would guess that the Media Player in the original SPVs does not support "protected media". The whole situation sucks. Buy music, play it where you want. Hardly rocket science, but the RIAA are convinced that the problem is piracy, and not that their members don't provide the products that people want. I've spent ages looking for a reliable, legitimate, flexible music download site. The only ones I've found are Russian MP3 sites, and after recent news items I suspect they're not as legitimate as I thought! They don't make it easy for you to buy music and take it with you. I would suggest (a) a newer phone, or (:D an MP3 download service.

Guest chucky.egg Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I don't know of any, but I would expect that there are tools to remove the protection from the files so that you can move them. The other option is just to buy the CDs and rip the tracks yourself, but that's too time consuming for me - I just want electronic copies of the tracks to put on my phone/PC/etc when I want It is bl00dy annoying, and a few times I've thought "sod it, I'm off to the P2Ps"
Guest Confucious Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 You don't expect to actually be able to listen to the music just because you've paid for it do you?
Guest chucky.egg Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 [HIJACK THREAD] Yeah, what was I thinking! I pay for my music from what I believe is a legitimate site, I don't share it with anyone else, and I don't burn CDs of it (I just copy a selection to my phone each week) so I figure that it is reasonable use. Screw 'em if it isn't. But it really should be easier than this for us to support our favourite artists, and to take our music with us. [/HIJACK THREAD]
