Ok Guys, need some help on what should be a no-brainer (maybe I got no brain?!).

I cannot use SMS on my c500. I chose the number set as a txt number in the contacts, click on that and it it starts up a "New Message" window, but is in email format (with phone number in 'To' line, plus a cc and Subj field).

Ok, thought maybe that is maybe just a weird way to show the SMS message writing, but when I hit send, I get the "Error, cannot send to SMS receipient from an email account".

Now I know that the SMS is working as far as the sim cards go (have both Vodafone and Orange in a dual-sim adapter) as I can put the dual-sim adapter into a Nokia 6310 and just compose and send an SMS from either card without any problems.

Also checked the SMS message number and that matches what it should be for Voda or Orange as appropriate.

Any ideas? I would have thought this would be a "working out the box" option, or at least obvious how to do, especially as I have managed to setup a POP3 account, plus syncing an Active Sync setup as well as Lotus Notes via CommonTime, so the more basic SMS shuld be a doddle!

TIA, Hoovie

I should add that I did try and add an SMS account, but it went straight into an "Email Setup" dialog so I guess that isn't the right way to go either :D

Please help someone!!

I had a similar problem and this is what i did ( dont know whether it will help you though )

When the new message boxes read

To

Cc

Subj

you are in the email account

so

menu

7. cancel compose

then return to

1. messaging

2. text messages

hope this works!

Nope, didn't. Tried it as you advised above and couldn't get a text message prompt up anywhere.

Really appreciate you trying to help though.

Right ... After spending a couple of hours surfing the web without much success, I decided to follow the extreme sledge-hammer route of Hard Resetting the phone and I got my Text Option back, it seems (of course, EVERYTHING else I have set up has been wiped out, but what the hell :D )
