Guest ht354 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I have tried to run the CAB file but I keep getting the message that it is not a valid windows CE setup file. How do I correct this problem? Do I need other software? Jeff
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 That error message indicates either that you have downloaded a Pocket PC installer ( or some other non-Smartphone software) or that your phone is not application unlocked. If the latter applies, click on the Quick Links line in my signature for details of how to get it unlocked.
Guest ht354 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I have unzipped the CAB file on the PC and it contains an XML file to be executed on the device. How do I run/execute this XML file? It just wants to open up in Internet Explorer as a file so it won't run. Guest beersoft Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 have you tried copying the cab file as downloaded (not extracting the contents or anything like that) to /storage/windows/startup and rebooting the phone?

Guest Confucious Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Just downloaded it and installed it on my phone without a problem. Is your phone app unlocked?
Guest ht354 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Maybe the problem is I am trying it on my Dell X5 Pocket PC. I am trying to evaluate the Audiovox smartfone that is available in canada. The problem is it is only a 32 mb fone. My mail currently eats up a ton of memeory and I thought if it worked on my dell, I would be in good shape to by the Audiovox smartfone. Just downloaded it and installed it on my phone without a problem. Is your phone app unlocked? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It is a great phone and if they are discontinuing it then you should get one before they do! Stu - I was to busy installing the cab file and missed your post. Is it to late to take you up on that bet now? :D
