Guest MonkeyBum Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Hi, I've put some applications .exe ones on an SD card and I want to install them on the phone. I have no idea where to start, can anyone help me please?
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 If they really are programs then, when connected to PC with ActiveSync, right-click and select copy. Then Browse to \Storage \Windows \Start Menu \(folder if required) and right-click again and select Paste Shortcut. However they are more likely to be installers that you run from your PC. Connect phone to PC with AS. Double-click the file icon and follow the instructions. For more information click on the 'First 48 Hours' link in my sig. :D
Guest Geeklord Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 What I do, in the absence of an SD card is: for a cab file, copy the cab file onto the phone in the storage/application data folder. Then using Smart explorer, run the cab. The cab installer does the rest in terms of deciding where to put the new folders etc. Then after installing, I just create a (or move the) shortcut on the specific folder in my Start Menu. For a zipped folder, I either copy the zipped folder onto the phone, again in the application data folder. Then using Smart explorer, unzip it and again everything else is automatic. I've noticed that the file manager the E200 came with does not have an unzip option so I had to install smart explorer. For exe files, i just copy them directly into the storage/program files folder and create a shortcut on the Start Menu folder (Storage/windows/Start menu) From what I gather, when you have a cab file and run it, the phone usually asks you where you'd want to install it, local or storage card. in the absence of a storage card, the phone installs it automatically in the local memory.
