Guest crypto1969 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 The T9 Predictive Text System on the MPx200 is horrible!!! The system that's on the Moto' V180 (T3? is far easier to use. I usually enter everythng on my MPx200 in normal text mode because I just cannot work with T9, is there a trick to working with it or is it just trial and error? Don't suppose there is a way to get the T3 PTS onto an MPx200 ?
Guest SinisterJunkie Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Not sure what you mean by T3, but most people can type pretty fast on a smartphone with T9. It works pretty simple, just press each button (only once) for each character you want to type, so help would be 4357. If you prefer abc, you hold down the * key until abc is shown in the upper right corner of the screen and the help would be 44335557. Hope that helps clarify.

Moto's used to have there own version called iTap but it was truly awful in most people's oppinion! T9 is great but I haven't seen the implementation on the Moto but I doubt if it's that bad. What problems / why don't you like it crypto1969?
Guest crypto1969 Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 T3 is the Predictive Text system that comes on the Motorola v180 and other phones. I have found it to be easier to use and more intuitive than T9. One question, when T9 word macthes as U type how do u correct the word? e.g. I type 72933, it matches me with "SAWED" but I wanted the word "PAYED" Not sure what you mean by T3, but most people can type pretty fast on a smartphone with T9. Guest Confucious Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Never heard of T3 as predictive text. according to http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=466 the V180 uses the awful iTap found on most Moto's. With ethe C500 T9 gives a list of matching words and you select the one you want, ythe most likely being the one at the top and this is updated as you use it so it learns your preferences.

Also, if the T9 dictionary does not know the some of the words you use, there are a few programs out there that let you add custom words to the T9 dictionary on your phone.
Guest Confucious Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Programs to let you add custom words? How can Moto screw up T9 so badly that a) You can't see the alternatives and ;) you actually need additional programs to add custom words? Only Motorola could do that!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 T9 on the 2003Rom on the MPX200 is even worse.

I've been using my MPx200 for a few days now, I've upgraded it to Windows MObile 2003 and as AWARNER says: T9 on the 2003Rom on the MPX200 is even worse I totally agree with him!! I cannot find any way to add words to the dictionary, it seems to add words into your message when you don't want it to and all sorts. The C500 version is a lot better!! Lets hope the MPx220 version is going to be better as I'm going to order one!! Edited April 18, 2005 by zim_zimmer
