Guest aliaird Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I have tried to get the vmail plugin to work but can't. I'm probably doing something stupid but any help would be gratefully received? I have an Orange SPV c500 on the UK Orange network if that matters. I attach a screenshot showing the problem and what I presume is all the relevant plugin code from the xml... Firstly on the messages section of the homescreen, when I get a voicemail, instead of getting "VMail: 1" I get VMail:42949+ about 4/5 other numbers which I can't read as they clash with other text on that line. I've copied the relevant section below - I can't see anything fundamentally different to what you had, but it just doesn't come up with "1". the SMS bit works OK. Surley it's nothing to do with me changing the text? <!-- Messages --> VoiceMail: Text Message: I've tried to look at other people's code and I still can't see anything wrong but I am very new to all this.
Guest confused and hungover Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 (edited) can you post the sms plugin code aswell edit, duh, i see it, sorry Edited April 14, 2005 by confused and hungover

Guest BrAGoL Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 well you're just an encyclopedia of previous posts!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> naah! :D it's just that i'm really maximizing the use of our office's broadband connection... :D
Guest aliaird Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Thanks both of you, but... the phantom email fix didn't work! It sounds like a very similar problem, but on the voicemail side of life, not the sms email. Should the email fix also do the vmail fix?
Guest aliaird Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Sorry Bragol, don't understand? Reading another post, given that my phone is new and I am only playing around with it at the moment, can I just delete my cemail.vol file? Will that solve the problem? If so, how do I do it as I keep getting "access denied" whenever i try to rename or delete it?

Guest aliaird Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Confused, No that's not what I meant, but thanks anyway. Reading another post about the bug suggested that the problem eminates from the cemail.vol file, it's nothing to do with the xml. If I can't fix it I might just take out the vmail function all together as you show, as I always get the reel logo at the top so it doesn't really bring a great deal the the party anyway! Would just like to fix it really!
Guest confused and hungover Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Confused, Reading another post about the bug suggested that the problem eminates from the cemail.vol file, it's nothing to do with the xml. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OIC, i didn't read the other file.... thats a mighty orange homescreen you have by the way
Guest aliaird Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 The homescreen is pretty much one that came with the rjshortcuts that i downloaded. I'm trying to make tweaks here and there but I don't really know what I'm doing and I keep having to guess a change, save the file, copy it to the phone and select the new homescreen. There must be a better freeware way!
Guest confused and hungover Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 i make mine the same way mate, it's really time consuming. i haven't heard of any freeware that can display an xml file as the phone does
Guest BrAGoL Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Sorry Bragol, don't understand? i said try also the other procedure... Reading another post, given that my phone is new and I am only playing around with it at the moment, can I just delete my cemail.vol file? Will that solve the problem? If so, how do I do it as I keep getting "access denied" whenever i try to rename or delete it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> try to kill first the tmail.exe app (inbox application) via SP Task Manager or XBar so you can rename and then delete it at the next bootup...
Guest BrAGoL Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 thats a mighty orange homescreen you have by the way <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it's RemyJ's sample HS... in HER ;)

Guest JamRam Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Ok, I've had this exact bug for 6 months, and am only getting around to it now. By the way, the bug goes like this: When you get a v-mail message, instead of displaying "1", it displays "4294967295". Now, this didn't used to happen before I started experimenting with homescreens, but now it does it for all of them. Did you guys even get to the bottom of this? Can't quite tell from the thread.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Hi JamRam, This trick used to work on the Tanager. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=4068 I think you call it 'Phantom Email' bug. Kill tmail.exe before you launch the tool.
Guest JamRam Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Hi JamRam, This trick used to work on the Tanager. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=4068 I think you call it 'Phantom Email' bug. Kill tmail.exe before you launch the tool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ](*,) Followed your instructions (assuming that by "kill tmail.exe" you mean not having it open), ran the utility and restarted the phone. The mystery 4294967295 still appeared as the number of v-mail messages on my homescreen. Just to be sure, I deleted the v-mail message, clearing the display, and left a new message to see what would happen. Well, the lucky number reappeared again. So, what next? ;)
Guest aliaird Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 In a word, no! There are a couple of themes about MMS and SMS solutions but I didn't get anywhere with them. Search for "phantom message" or something like that! I think the solution might lie with deleting the cemail.vol file but I can't do this. Rather than waste more time on it I've just got rid of the counter, as I still get the reel message in the iconbar to tell me I've got a message. However if you get a solution...
