How do you "Software Unlock" an MPx200 so that unsigned applications can be installed and run ?

That method only worked on the original SPV phones and soon stopped working after updates back in 2003.

unless you have an old UK MPX200 you have to use the OTA method in squall's post. Old MPX200 could be unlocked with the alphaflux application but the simplest way is OTA

Hi all!

(First post)

Been looking throught this site (stumble across it by accident!).

First of all ... Great site! Its good to see so many people helping each other out!

and

Secondly, I have a slight problem...

I have tried to App unlock my MPX200 for about a week, but not having much joy, I have read the sticky on this subject a few times and followed to the letter, It still dont work, Here is the situation, MPX200 on was Orange (its not got a Tmobile sim in now) only about a week old (so i assume its one of the new ones), I have read that you need to connect via GPRS first, but I cant, I hope GRPS has been set up right but I keep getting a "can not connect" message. I can connect vi the USB cable (in the cradle) though.

I have also tried the +44xxxx bit and +44 xxxxx, but just get the same result. (on orange site and on the register app)

I have also emailled orange developers, but had no response.

Sorry I know this has been covered quiet alot, but whatever i try = no luck.. Think this is because I am a total n00b at all of this (first smartphone, last phone was a 3210!)

I would appreciate any help or advice you guys can offer....

Third. Sorry for the long post!

Don't worry.

Connecting to the Orange GPRS system for the first time is an absolute pain. Took me about a month 2 years ago though I would think about a week of trying is normal now.

Turning to application unlocking; the Orange Developers have been away for a week but members are reporting that the service is working again, so keep trying.

When I first app unlocked my phone I did it through the developer's website, and it worked fine, however, when I had to re-unlock recently, following a hard reset, I had to email the developers to get anywhere. I got a response (sms) to the automatic unlock, but it just didn't work. Emailing the developers took about 5 days for a response, but they sent me an applet that did the job. Persevere and you will get your phone unlocked. Its worth the waiting and effort 'cos it makes the phone sooo much more useable!
