Guest squall Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 check out the imate jam, its pretty small but doesnt have wifi
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I would second that. Other than wi-fi and a physical keyboard the Jam (Magician etc) is a fantastic device. What you need to think about though is what you want to do with it. If you give us a list of needed functions it would be easier to advise.
Guest scottishdave Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Thanks all, Been looking at some of the HPs which are favourites at the moment.

Which make is best? which model is best?/quote] I have a Dell Axim X50v - VGA, WiFi, BT, CF and SD memory slots, 624Mhz processor - the business. It's a good price as well! However....I got it at the same time as my Nokia 6260....but since getting my SPV-C500, the Axim has spent an awful lot of time sat on the desk :-(
Guest scottishdave Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 (edited) We use Dells at work and all I can say is that I'm not there biggest fan. I think I'll opt for a HP iPaq. Edited April 27, 2005 by scottishdave
Guest robinlondon Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 So what the i-mate jam like? Anyone got one they could share how well it performs compared to the MDA compact. Robin
Guest fraser Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 If you have WiFi, or are considering getting it in your home, I implore you to get a device that has it built-in. ;) You will not regret it; free hi-speed internet on a mobile device is great. You can stream music, use VoIP (skype) and a whole load of other things that you would never do if you were paying for the data charges.
Guest Sherbet66 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 So what the i-mate jam like? Anyone got one they could share how well it performs compared to the MDA compact. Robin <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the I-Mate Jam is the MDA Compact, same phone different brand name. Its generally considered to be the best of the Pocket Pc phones at the moment. Very powerful, very small, very sleek and very desirable. Best of bunch at the moment. D

D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Suddenly it all makes sense  So what other 'Branded' names are there? I guess the only difference is the network and maybe the odd extra like t-zones? 've been perusing this site trying to compare the phones - totally missed that they were the same. I really want data connection (to get emails) and co-pilot too and its only an extra £89 on tmobile. That way I can reduce my collection of gadgets. Is this a good deal? www.redstaphones.co.uk Robin
Guest pisquee Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 The model is made by HTC, and is called the magician. It is then bought and branded by resellers/dealers/networks around the world under various names. Orange call it the SPV m500 Imate - Jam Qtek - S100 T-Mobile - MDA Compact There are some others, can't remember at the moment - sure someone else will fll them in.
Guest MitchellO Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 Also called the XDA II Mini. Absolutely awesome device. Fast, small, great looking, metal case (much nicer than plastic PDAs), AND builtin phone!! Absolutely perfect screen.
Guest psionandy Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 If you don't mind a 2 box solution have a look at the Dell Axim X50V That VGA screen is amazing!
Guest lorismarcos Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 The ETEN M500 rulez , and it can be updated to wm5.0 Or u can wait and buy the m600
