I got my phone out of my pocket yesterday afternoon and found the keypad caved in! The scratches are where I've tried (unsuccessfully) to fix it but the bar between the 2,3 and 5,6 keys has been pushed right back under the keys ;)

The strange thing is, I have no idea how it happened - I had my other phone in the same pocket (I usually do) and that was not damages and I didn't feel a thing, it was fine earlier on in the afternoon.

The question is now, what to do? Do I send it back to HTC? Anyone any idea what they'd charge? Or do I try and take it apart myself (bearing in mind I am completely cack handed and very likely to mess it up)?

I don't have orange care.

Help!

Sorry - just to add, please don't cick on the picture if you have a slow connection, it is a large picture and would take a couple of weeks to download via a 56k modem

Someone posted a link to HTC's nominated repair centres on here somewhere.

What I remember is that most of them were actually Carphone Whorehouse units.

There were loads of them in the UK so perhaps you could find your nearest one in the phone book.

Thats nasty! Odd too ... looks asthough the impact covered only a very small area. Always carry my C500 with the screen facing my leg! HTC will fully refurbish a SPV C500 for about £15. That includes a case, numeric keypad, case and screen. They should fix it up for you good and proper; might take a week or so though ... good luck.

Finally fixed it - I had to buy a Torx screwdriver (£4) and I bought a dummy case but ended up only using the keypad as a) I couldn't figure out how to get the speaker out of my original case and d) the sticky bit round the screen used to hold the dummy picture in didn't look the same as on the original so I decided it was easier just to bend the original case back into shape and use the keyboard from the dummy.

I am so pleased to have my C500 back ;) I didn't realise how much I'd been missing it.

My C500 (aka Little Stu) has been in HTC's hands for almost two weeks. I'm using the other half's old phone since then (a Siemens SL55) - I didn't realise how much I'd miss Little Stu while he was away. It really is quite pathetic!

Thought you'd appreciate knowing you're not alone in your sadness.

;)
