What can I *do* with Bluetooth?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I am at a loss as to what I can actually do with Bluetooth.....I have found the settings on my C500 to enable it and to set my phone to be discoverable and to rename it, but that's about it.

On my PocketPC I have the ability to search for other devices and so on, but it seems that the C500 can only accept incoming connections....so apart from having BT turned on and possibly waiting to some to bluejack me, what can I do with it?

You can send files with Bluetooth, just use a program like SmartExplorer :D

You can also send contacts.. .just open a contact then press "menu" and select "send contact" (or somethine like that).

When you want to receive files trough BT u must enable "incoming beams" Start -> (4)Settings -> (7)incoming beams.

May be al little different, I'm using a Dutch phone :D

You could search on Modaco or Google for more info on Bluetooth ;)

Actually - looks like I missed an option somewhere as you *can* search for and discover other BT devices...it's just hidden away a bit in the menus!

Thanks,

This one I want to try, but I can't get to download the software. I can put in my country, my email address, my phone make and then select the C500 but then nothing happens.

Hmmmm....not sure if I would ever need this one....though I do know someone who is always giving powerpoints and it might work for them.

Thanks,

Waste your Sunday mornings loading and reloading drivers in a vain effort to get the b*****d devices talking to each other.

No can do...Sunday mornings are set aside for getting my laptop to display in widescreen under Linux. Sunday afternoons are taken up with re-doing all the VAT calculations in my Excel sheets as Microsoft can't seem to programme simple multiplications correctly.

I *may* be able to fit in some BT driver jiggery-pokery on Tuesday afternoon ;-)

Um...if what you're trying to say is that SonyEricsson has the best bluetooth then yes, I agree 110%. I was able to browse folders on the host PC, use the phone as a modem, use the PC as a speaker / microphone, move files back and forth at will....all kinds of things from as far as 20 to 30 feet away and the phone never once missed a beat. The best smartphone bluetooth, by comparison, is more an exercise in "why did they bother?" as long as it's within a couple of feet of the bluetooth adapter. Hell, the USB cable reaches farther than bluetooth. What a waste.

If you go to 'File manager' with your C500 and select a file (ie: picture, video) in 'tree view', select menu-send-via infrared the file will go via bluetooth to any other paired device. Sounds ridiculous but it works. Once you get your head around bluetooth there is no problem though not as straight forward as the Sony Ericsson. Looby ;)

I just use my BT to ActiveSync, transfer files and BT Headset and car kit.

But then I can get Excel to do my VAT calculations as well.... ;)

Here is one I don't reccomend,

Make a 'candid' vid of your girlfriend and try to send it to her later, whilst in the galley of a Naval Air Station, but get it wrong and send it to every BT capable phone in the building, then try and explain to your now ex-girlfriend how it happened.

No, I don't have a BT phone, it wasn't me, but about a dozen people have shown me the vid

One thing I like doing is to use the phone as a wireless mouse/keyboard on my laptop. That way, people keep borrowing the laptop at work - I start moving the mouse of typing rude words into their letters.

So far, I've made two girls scream and one bloke hand the laptop back severly shaken up saying the PC was "haunted".

I wonder if hell will be WiFi'ed by the time I get there?

Why not make it even worse and upload it here for us to BT it to everyone randomly as well?
