Guest xspyda Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I have two c500's (both without care) and one has developed a fault with the HOME key not working. The phone itself is approx 6 months old and has no major signs of damage - just the wear you would expect of a phone of this age that has been carried in a handbag regularyly (not mine I might add)! As you will have gathered, this is the Missus's phone and I would like to get this repaired. Must Orange be involved in the process or am I able to get a free repair remplacement through HTC as the manufacturer directly? Any suggestions on who to contact and the information to provide would be most appreciated. Also does anyone know how long the process will take? Thanks all.
Guest squall Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 you need to visit http://www.htceurope.com/ i think it takes 3 weeks, a nd orange dont have to be involved, however if you speak with orange and convince them to give you a replacement you would get it the next day!
Guest xspyda Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Thanks, the second option would be preferable but do you seriously think they will issue a replacement after 6 months for a handset not covered by care? If you know something I don't - do tell! ;) I should say though that I have tried this before when my own c500 started playing up about 4 months into the contract. I was referred to HTC (with a reference) and the O bod would not budge on policy! In the end I didn't send it back as I didn't want to be without for weeks and I feel pretty sure the Missus will feel the same!
Guest squall Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 orange cs have the power to give you a replacement, just comes down to who you speak to, and what mood they are in
Guest xspyda Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 Hmmm, in my experience, the first thing they tend to check is the IMEI and that tells them whether or not it's in warranty. I think it's within the first 28 days they can officially provide a replacement. After this, they refer customers to the manufacturers warranty unless they have care, in which case a refurb will be offered as a replacement. I know what you mean with who you speak to and their mood though, it always has been a bit of a lottery with OCS! Although they all have the ability to order a replacement, I think there are few that will bypass standard policy and go ahead with this. Probably worth a try though!
Guest mossywell Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Probably got to this post too late, but FWIW... I had an E200 repaired by HTC. Not covered by Orange care and was 11 3/4 months old. (Yes, it really did break down with 1 week left on the manufacturer's warranty.) Called HTC and they asked for the IMEI. They said it was still under warranty and emailed me some forms to fill out to ship back to them with the phone. I sent the phone that day to them and got the repaired phone back in about 5 working days. Very straightforward indeed. ;)
Guest xspyda Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Not too late at all (The Missus says she never used the back button so I have yet to do anything about this). Go figure! Thanks for your input, I shall give them a call and see what they say.
