Guest 187Cop Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I bought a used E200 about a month ago. I think it was about a year old when I got it. It was in really great condition, and I've been loving it. However, in the last week a problem has arisen with the audio: Simply put, I think there is a short circuit (or loss of contact of the audio adapter pin with the plug contacts). When I'm listening to music, as long as the phone and wires are stationary, everything is fine, but if I'm walking or the wires are moving around at all, the sound will drop out ocassionally, as though the angled adapter plug that I'm using had been removed from the phone. To fix the problem, I just have to rotate the plug around a little bit, but again, any motion will knock it out of whack and I get either no audio or much quieter audio, as though only partial contact exists. The phone and adapter plug in question. I didn't see this problem on the 'known issues' thread. Has anybody experienced this before? I've tinkered around a little bit trying to isolate the short, and it looks to me like it's in the phone plug (and unfortunately not the adapter plug that i'm using that takes the 2.5 mm plug and allows me to connect 3.5 mm earphones). If was in the adapter I'd just replace that. One possibility I've come up with is that the part of the "outlet" in the phone that is supposed to press down on the male end of the adapter plug that I plug into the phone has worn out, and isn't pressing down onto the plug hard enough. If this is the case, is there a way for me to get inside the phone and push it down back into the recepticle to try to re-invigorate its contact mojo? What's going on in there? Any comments or tips are appreciated.
Guest smeg36 Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 You could use the directions posted here to disassemble your E200 and see if you can fix the problem.

Guest smeg36 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Put your mouse over the words posted here. They are a link to the directions. If you don't know what you are doing, disassembly can be risky. I have taken apart a few Smartphones, and have yet to cause any damage.
Guest mentol Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I have exactly the same problem! It just get worse the older the phone get :/ Arent there anyone who can give us another answer than "open the phone"? - Erik
