Free Space issues on SPV 100

I tried the Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 on my SPV 100 and was successfully able to connect to my mobile. I could view and delete content. I even exported the contacts and sms messages as text files on to my PC.

But, although i deleted over 2000 contacts and some 500 sms messgaes from my mobile, the space has not been released and it shows as if the data is still there. i had around 0.7MB left before i started deleting the contacts and sms and it still is the same free space i.e. 0.78MB. Shouldnt it have become something like 3MB etc. Please help.

I however know a workaround, upgrade the SPV software and although all programs need to be reinstalled, the mobile becomes a clean slate. I am not sure i want to do this. So, again, please help.

contacts and sms dont take up much space, its much more likely your issues are due toinstalling applications to the phones memory instead of the sd card.

You can reset the phone (clear it without having to run the update)

I suggest you do this as it will let you start over

On the SPV e100...

1. Failed program installations dumps cab installer to \IPSM\Windows\AppMgr\Install folder. Check your Install folder for remnants of files.

2. There may not be dramatic decrease in cemail.vol size even if all messages were already deleted. What I do is to backup the SMS database (cemail.vol) by doing the rename trick. A fresh cemail.vol will be generated on a reboot (around 152kb). Once a new cemail file is generated, you can now transfer the old cemail file to your computer.

3. Check also your MAPI folder. The mpb files inside occupies phone space when piled up. I delete them.

4. Speed dial entries, calendar, contacts, call history info etc are stored in mxip_initdb.vol file.

5. If you've got a number of programs in mind, it is better to have a memory card and install the applications to the card whenever necessary.
