Guest spannerhead_jamie Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Hello, I am a first time user of this site, and of a bluetooth enabled phone. I have an orange SPV E200, and I believe that it has bluetooth on it. Now I think that I roughly know what bluetooth is. Its a method of being able to send and recieve data between two devices. However, I would really like to know how to do this with my SPV. I tried with a friend at work to send a file, but it asked me to set up a password with the other phone, but his sony ericson handset didnt require a password. Does this mean that these two cant connect? I have tried the handset on all modes on off and discoverable, and and each time it asks for the password. I have looked in the instruction book that came with the phone, but it is a bit vague. I always thought that with bluetooth you just scanned for other devices and then once they are found, you could start interacting with them straight away with out the need for passwords. If any of you kind people could help, I would be really appreciative. Please try to keep everything really simple, as I have been using Nokia's for the last 4 years! Thanks in advance Jamie

Guest Rui_Costa Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 i'm sorta new to blootoothing, heres what i did 1. download smartexplorer (my c500's explorer doesnt let me 'send via bluetooth') 2. when prompted to enter a password, do so (keep it simple) i believe (correct me if i'm worng pls) spvs ask for PW when connecting to a device. a nokia 6230 asked for a password when 'establishing a connection' when both users enter the password (now you can transfer files) - the connection is remembered later on and the user is not prompted again for PW. is that a bit too vague??
Guest FORCEFOXFIVE Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Some one please help, as my name suggests, I am better with spanners and things mechanical than with computers. Thanks Jamie <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As previously suggested, download SmartExplorer...this enables you to exchange files with other Bluetooth enabled phones. It doesnt always work well with other phones, so I found out that if you also turn 'BEAM' on, (START/SETTINGS/7 BEAM) it tends to work better...i dont know why tho! You cant message other people via Blutooth with SmartExplorer (well i think you can but its a right hoo-ra-ra-hoo) but you can download programs that enable you detect other people via Bluethooth and text them, without them knowing who it is! Here are a couple of sites worth visting... www.mobiluck.com www.bluejackq.com www.londondev.com Ive tried the first two, with no luck installing and running the programs, but the last one works just fine! Click on the 'screen shot', download the .CAB file, Sync your e200 with your PC.... ...copy the .CAB file to your phone....STORAGE/WINDOWS/STAT MENU.... ...then wait a few seconds, then hit START/MORE.../MORE... and there should be an icon SMARTJACKING....click on it...VOILA! ROBERTS UR FATHERS BRUVA! HAPPY HUNTING!
Guest spannerhead_jamie Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Right I have downloaded that program but will have to wait till tommorow till I can test it with another bluetooth phone. Shame that its a 14 Day trial. Can you recomend anything else funky to download? Thanks Jamie
