Guest shippo Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Hi there Here is a NEWBIE solution for everyone with an SPV c500 who wants to send and receive email using their orange.net email address on their phone. Goto www.orange.co.uk On the right handside below the Orange Logo is a section called ORANGE EXPLORE click "email" below it Then on the next page on the LHS click "change your details" enter your mobile number and password Halfway down the page it states Email/POP3 details Your Orange email details are shown below. You will need this information if you wish to access your Orange email on your laptop, pda or email capable phone. email address : *********@orange.net email/POP3 username : BUNCH OF NUMBERS AND LETTERS Password : your existing sign-in password Mailbox type : POP3 Incoming (POP3) server : pop.orange.net Outgoing (SMTP) server : smtp.orange.net the "email/POP3 username" is very important here when i set up my orange email account and printed the page with these email setup details on, it was just blank for the email/pop3 username, so i thought my pop3 username/email name was just my name! How wrong I was. anyway....onto what to do on the phone(dont bother using the wizard) click> start messaging select any of the options here (media/text message/any email accounts etc) click select click menu click otions click account set up click menu click new enter your name as you want people to see it when you email. enter your email address (the @ symbol is already there for you) Make sure automatic setup is ticked, click next and it will begin to obtain all the relevant details from the internet when it has done so next you will need to fill in your "user name" which is your "email/POP3 username " from the orange website page (not your actual name!!!) this is a random bunch of numbers and letters. Next enter your password. Tick save password (if you wish) Click next The server type will already be set up as "POP3" The account name will already be set up as "orange.net" Make sure NETWORK states "The internet" click next incoming server should already say pop.orange.net require ssl should not be ticked Outgoing server should already say smtp.orange.net outgoing server requires authentification should not be ticked click next Download the following messages should be set to how you want it to be I have it as all messages first 500 bytes click next Connect automatically and check for messages should be set how you want I have it set as Never click next click finish Click done Click done now go to your new orange.net account on your phone click select click menu click send/receive and thats it!!! you will now receive/send any emails from/to your phone. phew!!! shippo ;)
