Guest PPCPassion Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I have an unlocked Audiovox smt 5600 phone which I use on T-mobile network in USA. Only issue I have with this phone is that at start up, it automatically loads mMode (by ATT) and that takes quite long to load. I don't use mMode and would like to get rid of it (or atleast be able to disable it). Any help will be appreciated. If this topic is already discussed, please point me to that link. I did try to search on this forum prior to posting my question. Thanks

This, plus the quick links to Sports, Entertainment, News, and Search is actually a selectable customized Home Screen from AT&T Wireless. Go to Start > More… > Settings > Home Screen and select Windows Default. • Remove AWS Home Screen from the Home Screen list: Launch File Manager and go to Options. Uncheck all items under File Browser Settings. Browse to \Storage\Application Data\Home and rename AWS.FIVE_ICONS.home.xml to AWS.FIVE.ICONS.home.xml.old. • Remove mMode from Start Menu: Launch File Manager and browse to \Storage\windows\Start Menu. Move shortcut file mMode.lnk to anywhere outside the Start Menu, such as \Storage\windows. You may have to reboot your phone or kill all tasks using the Task Manager under Resource Mgmt in order to see the changes to the Start Menu. • Remove mMode E-Mail from Messaging: Launch Messaging and select any account displayed. Click Menu, then Options, then Account Setup. Scroll down to mMode Email, click the Menu button, then choose Delete. • Change mMode screen at startup: Copy the provided cingular_startup.gif file to the \Storage\windows folder. Copy the Screen Changer and QuickReset utilities to \Storage\Program Files. Launch Screen Changer on your Smartphone. Change Boot Screen 2 to \Storage\windows\cingular_startup.gif. Click on Options, then Update Screens, then Quit. Launch QuickReset to view and verify the new startup graphic. • Remove AT&T Wireless-related Favorites in Internet Explorer: Launch Internet Explorer, then click on Favorites. Select mMode, then click Menu, then Delete and confirm by pressing Yes. Repeat for Wireless Email, Mobile Store, • Change AT&T Wireless banner in Phone application1: Copy the provided file branding_cingular.gif to \Storage\windows. Launch Smartione and go to Tools > Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSCdial and change string value of BannerImage to \Storage\windows\branding_cingular.gif. Repeat the same step for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSCPROG. If you want the whole .pdf email me at chris.robbins[at]gmail[dot]com

Guest IPahwa Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 When i went to delete it it wasn't there i have searched high and low and it wont go away <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It should be under under storage>windows>start menu. However deleting mMode link won't get rid of mMode splash screen (logo at the start up). Follow the instructions listed above by Mobile-distortion. It worked. He forgot to mention that you MUST use built in file manager(explorer) to make all these changes and I was trying to use Smartexplorer. You will need 2 files to change the splash screen from mMode to Cingulair or any other vendor. I also found gif file for T-Mobile as I use T-Mobile. I can send you required 2 files, cingulair and T-Mobile gif files and instructions in PDF format-all in a zip file. Email me at [email protected] You must follow the instructions step by step. My piece of advice, if you are not comfortable with this process (although pain in the neck), after each step, back up--just in case....
Guest PPCPassion Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I am sorry, I don't know why my name came up as the scree ID? Anyway, IPAHWA and PPCPassion are the same person.-Sorry!
